All Quiet on the Western Front

Things have been a bit quiet here recently as we get ready to move house...but just before we do we're off to sunny Cornwall for our Summer hols! So it really will be quiet here for the next couple of weeks. Back in August!

The Public Enemy

I got my first lot of Copplestone gangsters back from Matt the other day. As always, he's done a brilliant job!

I've taken a few pics...apologies for the inappropriate terrain but everything else I have is in storage ready for our upcoming move!

Boss or Enforcer

Boss or Hoodlum

Slugger this fig!

I'm looking forward to getting the next lot and having enough for a game of Mad Dogs with Guns!

Dracula's America: Shadows of the West...Nickstarter Live!

North Star's Dracula's America: Shadows of the West Nickstarter officially goes live on Monday but for those of us who have joined the Dracula's America: Shadows of the West Player's Page on Facebook the page is already live!! If you can't wait, just head on over to the Facebook page here and join up!

There are early bird deals until Wednesday when prices will go up...and there is lots to choose from. If you want all of it then the early bird price is £118 for the lot! Otherwise a book and posse combo will set you back anything from £31.90 to £48.60 depending on the posse and the figures included.

You can also buy all of the figures individually including many from the Artizan Wild West range as well as assorted other figures from a few other ranges...most of which are not normally available individually.

You can apparently play the game as straight Wild West or include the Weird West elements from the book. The posses (each made up of around 10 figs) are Twilight Order (Templars/Monster Hunters), Red Hand Coven (Vampires), Skinwalkers (Indian Shapeshifters), Crossroads Cult (Demon Worshippers), Congregation (Voodoo) and Dark Confederate (Zombie). There is also a further book in the works, Hunting Grounds (due out in Jan 2018), which adds The Forsaken (Cursed 7th Cavalry) and White Dragon Tong.

Already having quite a few Wild West figs, I've jumped on board for the book and some of the more Weird West figs. Really looking forward to this!

Dark Dungeon Gaming Mat from Ceri Design

I got my Dark Dungeon 4' x 3' gaming mat from the Ceri Design kickstarter last week...and it looks great!

The brown-tinged flagstones and cobblestones will be great for everything from Victorian streets to lost cities to dungeons deep. They will also go well with the Badlands Battlefield in a Box stuff I least I think so but most of my stuff is in storage at the moment so I'll have to wait to find out for sure.

And it fits our kitchen table perfectly. I really need to give it an iron, though...but that too is in storage!

Anyway, I am certainly planning on picking some more up soon!

Pulp Heroes from Crooked Dice

Oh dear! Yet more temptation! Crooked Dice have just shown some pics on their Facebook page of their upcoming Pulp Heroes for their Time Lost Programme Guide.

Wow. Perfect for Lost World and Pulp gaming. The Rod Taylor (The Time Machine is one of my favourite films) and Doug McClure figs are just brilliant!

Dunkirk Joe, Wargames Illustrated's Latest Giants-in-Miniature

Dunkirk Joe

Wargames Illustrated have their latest Giants-in-Miniature figure up for pre-order here...this time Dunkirk Joe. Would work well for Pulp, VCBW or Campaign Sea Lion games.

Dracula's America: Shadows of the West

I'm afraid this blog has been a bit quiet over the last couple of weeks...indeed, the last few months, really...with 'real life' getting in the way. Posting will probably remain a bit patchy as we get ready for yet another house move (the last one...ever, if I have anything to do with it!) in August. Hopefully things will get back to normal come September.

Of course, none of this has stopped me getting all excited about various upcoming games. I already picked up Mad Dogs with Guns  and a load of Copplestone Gangsters will be heading off to Matt's painting table next week. I've also been getting all enthused about Campaign Sea Lion for Bolt Action...though I have so far managed to stop myself from buying a load of those lovely Footsore and Warlord figs. Not sure how much longer I can restrain myself, though...especially as they just released these beauties...

...which will work brilliantly for Pulp games, too. In fact, I can feel my wallet opening as I type this!

And then there is Dracula's America: Shadows of the West! Due out in August this set of rules does the Weird West...though I have heard it can be played straight Wild West, too, and anything in between. I already have a lovely bunch of Artizan Wild West figs but North Star will once again be producing a range of figs specifically for the game. There have been a few sneak peeks on the Facebook page (here)...

...and they are just superb! I don't think I will be able to resist these, either! And there is already a supplement in the works which is due out in January 2018...Dracula's America: Shadows of the West: Hunting Grounds.

So many cool toys and just not enough time or money!

Operation Sea Lion

I've long been interested in the 'what if' of Operation Sea Lion as well as admired from afar the many excellent A Very British Civil War games I've seen on a variety of wargaming blogs...particularly those of Mr Crump's wargamesinthedungeon blog...well worth a visit, if you haven't already.

Now Warlord Games have released Campaign Sea Lion for Bolt Action along with a range of superb figures...both their own here and from Footsore Miniatures here. The BUF figures, in particular, are superb...

...but then so are the British Militia! There are many more excellent figures in the Footsore shop.

Warlord have also just announced a second supplement, Campaign Gigant, with the Germans opening up a second front in the North-East.

I'm finding it very hard not to dive into yet another period...but they do sort of fit in with all the Pulp figs I have, don't they? And I've already picked up the book!
